Dam under Bukovec

The Pod Bukovcom reservoir is located near the village of Bukovec - about 4 km west of the outskirts of Košice. It was built on the Ida creek in the 1960s as a utility water emergency tank for the needs of a metallurgical plant (now US Steel). The tank excels with extremely clean water, while its average temperature is approx. 20 ° C. During the summer, it is the most popular place in the area, as evidenced by the numerous visits of tourists and the crowded shores of sunbathing vacationers. In the recreation center on its shore, it is possible to swim and practice water sports, such as windsurfing, boating. Or you can simply take a fishing rod and go fishing all day. In the summer months, two larger beaches are open, one of which is pebbly and also offers sun loungers and showers. The grassy banks of the water reservoir can also be used for various leisure activities. There are playgrounds in front of children, traditionally equipped with carousels and climbing frames. There are also sports fields. You can find buffets here at almost every step, so there is definitely no shortage of delicious food and drinks.
